Family Health Centers Inc. will celebrate National Health Center Week with a series of events at the health center Aug. 13-19. The theme for this year’s National Health Center Week is “Celebrating America’s Health Centers: The Key to Healthier Communities.”
Health centers serve more than 25 million Americans at more than 9,000 delivery sites in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and U.S. territories.
National Health Center Week is a week-long campaign to raise awareness about the mission and accomplishment of U.S. health centers – the largest and most successful system of primary health care.
Family Health Centers Inc. will recognize its patients, community and staff. Patient Appreciation Day will be held Aug. 14 with refreshments, giveaways and door prizes for patients.
On Public Housing Day on Aug. 15, FHC will select seven low-income apartment complexes in its service areas of Orangeburg, Denmark, Holly Hill, Neeses, St. Matthews, St. George and Vance, where it will distribute laundry products to the residents.
On Aug. 16, FHC Inc. will host Public Service Day featuring its annual clothing boutique for men, women and children of all ages.
FHC on Agriculltural Worker Health Care Day on Aug. 17 will select two to four farms located in Orangeburg, Bamberg, Calhoun and/or Upper Dorchester counties, where it will distribute hygiene products; educational materials, such as bilingual books; and book bags for the seasonal workers and their families.
FHC will end the week by hosting its Annual Community Health Fair from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19. This year, the agency anticipates at least 20 vendors will participate from various organizations and businesses throughout Orangeburg and surrounding cities. There will be a magic show, a clown, face painting, giveaways, refreshments and more
