Passengers on easyJet Flight 3025 ended up in a different country due to extreme weather conditions.

One traveller described it as a ‘nightmare’ journey after the plane made an attempt to land in Dubrovnik, before diverting.

The flight departed London Stansted just after 6am this morning, but five hours later passengers still hadn’t made it to their destination.

One traveller said several people on board were vomiting as the aircraft battled severe winds at the Croatian airport.

After the attempt to land, pilots were forced to abort their mission.

The flight diverted to Bari Airport in Italy so that it could refuel.

Passengers were stuck on the tarmac for over an hour waiting for the all-clear to fly back to their intended destination.

easyJet updated customers on its app, to explain why the plane had been diverted.

The airline said: “We’re sorry that your flight has diverted to Bari airport.

“This is due to high winds at Dubrovnik, that are unfortunately below limits to be able to land.

“We plan to fly you to Dubrovnik when the weather has improved.

“Your crew will be keeping you up to date on the situation and we also recommend checking back with Flight Tracker for the latest updates.”

Long lines formed for the on board bathroom after the flight finally landed in Italy.

One passenger told Express.co.uk: “This is a nightmare! The captain attempted to land three times but it was too windy.

“We circled above and then reattempted. There were people vomiting close by me. The plane was going side to side.”

The plane made it to its intended destination, Dubrovnik, two hours and 56 minutes behind schedule.

easyJet said according to its safety report, only one person on board was sick.

A spokesperson said: “We spoke with both the Captain and the cabin manager who confirmed that only one person became sick after they initiated the divert, who was dealt with by the crew.”
